As part of IYA 2009 about 120 of the kids at Ridgeway Independent School in Louis Trichardt were treated to views of the Sun through the telescope (solar filter attached).  During the Grade 5 Challenge Day (Grade 5 class brings various eats to sell during break) most of the learners were queuing up to view the Sun as opposed to buying cup-cakes, sweets etc.  Information on our closest star was handed out which included South African Star Lore about the Sun.
