  • Interim online resource database for astronomy education and outreach launched (5 September 2007)
  • Online Forum launched (26 September 2007)
  • Draft business plan for IYA SA released (5 October 2007)
  • SA representation at the CAP2007 conference and SPOC meeting in Greece (8-11 October 2007)
  • South Africa participates in IAU lobbying in New York (1 November 2007)
  • Meeting with National Steering Committee, DST and NRF (4th December 2007)
  • UN announces the declaration of 2009 as IYA which is followed by a number of press releases, newspaper articles and radio inteviews over the next few weeks (20th December 2007)
  • Meeting of Steering Committee regarding funding (25th January 2008)
